Intended learning outcomes
  1. Deep understanding of the interaction of ionizing radiation with matter. Radiotherapy and proton therapy.
  2. Understanding of Monte carlo simulation methods for ionizing radiation interaction with matter. Usage of several simulation codes (PENELOPE, GEANT, FLUKA).
  3. Development of simulation codes for situations of medical interest for dosimetric calculations. TAC and PET scans, therapy with photon and proton beams.
  4. Understanding of the mechanisms of production of radiation (ciclotrons, LINACs).
